Structure of the Group

 

The Group is led by the Group Scout Leader and is managed by the Group Executive Committee, www.scoutbase.org.uk/library/hqdocs/por/2003/3_23.htm#rule_3.22. The members of this committee are the 'Charity Trustees' of the Scout Group, which is an educational charity; a full list of the Trustees who have served throughout the year can be seen on page 19 of the written report and the reference and administrative details of this website.

 

As charity trustees they are responsible for complying with legislation applicable to charities. This includes the registration, keeping proper accounts and making returns to the Charity Commission as appropriate. The meetings are held every 2 months on the second Monday of the month, May, July, September, November, January and March. 

 

Parents are encouraged to attend, contact any leader for details of the next meeting.

 


 

Group Executive Commitee

 

The Committee consists of 3 independent representatives, Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary, who are elected at the AGM, together with the Group Scout Leader, individual section leaders, parent representation, sponsoring authority and co-opted members. As a partner group for a District Explorer Scout Unit the Explorer Scout Leader is also invited to attend.

 

This Group Executive Committee exists to support the Group Scout Leader in meeting the responsibilities of the appointments and is responsible for:

 

¨               the maintenance of Group property;

¨               the raising of funds and the administration of Group finance;

¨               the insurance of persons, property and equipment;

¨               group public occasions;

¨               arranging accommodation and assisting to find camping grounds;

¨               assisting in the recruitment of leaders and other adult support;

¨               appointing any sub committees that may be required;

¨               appointing Group Administrators and Advisors other than those who are elected.

 

 


Scouters Meeting

 

The Group also holds a wider Scouter's meeting in the intervening months, April, June, October, December and February. The meetings are held on the second Monday of the month commencing at 8.00pm and held at the Scout HQ. This meeting is chaired by the Group Scout Leader at which all leaders, helpers and supporters are invited attend. The purpose of this meeting is to concern itself with the well being and development of each member of the Group, to ensure the progress of each Member through the Progressive Award Training Scheme, and to plan and co-ordinate all the Group's activities and to keep the Group Executive Committee advised of the financial and other resources requirements of the training programme.

The group is run entirely by volunteers and there are no paid officials.
