Wednesday Beavers, Holden Clough school,  6 - 8 years old 5.45pm

We have 11 Beaver Scouts (8 boys and 3 girls) this is a slight drop on last years 13 (11 boys and 2 girls) as some have moved up to cubs without being replaced by new recruits. We are attempting a recruitment campaign through Holden Clough School in which we operate in an attempt to increase numbers. The group will continue to monitor this.

We have achieved a lot of activity badges during the year these include; Faith, Discovery, Friendship, Beaver 1, Beaver 2 and Explorer.

Our colony has taken part in a wide variety of activities this year including;

  • District outing in June to Linnet Clough where we completed the explorer badge
  • Attendance at Harvest Festival church parade in September.
  • In the District Olympics we did very well to achieve to achieve 1st Place
  • We had a good attendance at the remembrance festival in November
  • We had a lot of fun at the District Christmas Party at Cineworld

All those badges and activities in just a year. Well done to all the Beavers

Our plans for next year include achieving more badges, recruiting new Beavers and a Trip to the Magna Centre

In the past year we have  been helped by 2 Boys from a local high school who are using the experience as part of there service element of their Duke of Edinburgh Award. My thanks for all their help, and hope that they stay with us.

Thursday Beavers, HQ, 6 - 8 years old 5.30pm

We have had good numbers throughout the year, starting with 18 and ending with 23. 7 Beavers have 'swam' to cubs, as well as having some leave. We have lots of FUN and made new FRIENDS along the way.

We told you last year that we were going to take our Beavers on a camp again, and this we did in May to Dunham Massey, with the theme of Pirates. The rules state that Beavers are only allowed to stay a way from home for a maximum of 24 hours, and we made sure they had maximum fun during this time. I actually think that some of them thought they had to stay awake for the full 24 hours!!!  Our thanks go to all the leaders and helpers who made the event go so well. We had 15 Beavers and 20 Leaders and helpers. All the Beavers who attended achieved their Nights Away badge. Not to be put off we are arranging another camp for May 2006 where our theme will be Indians.

We have continued to achieve badges throughout the year which has included

  • 15 Faith Badges
  • 15 Outdoor
  • 15 Discovery
  • 15 Friends

Our outings have included the various District led activities such as:

  • Linnet Clough Beaver Day
  • Beaver Olympics
  • Christmas at Cineworld.

Our own outings included

  • Ten Pin Bowling
  • Hurst Community Panto
  • Stamford Park

Looking to next year we are to have another camp at Dunham Massey and District trips have been arranged to Camelot and Eureka.

Most importantly we intend to have lots of fun
